Monsters for Democracy

During my days as a professional asshole ("newspaper reporter") I had the opportunity to meet a lot of interesting people. An Elvis impersonator who looked nothing like Elvis, but insisted on staying in character 24/7. A former World War II prisoner of war who was "drafted" at gunpoint into fighting either for or against (I forget which) Marshal Josip Tito's forces inYugoslavia. (He was eventually traded back to the U.S. for weapons.) And then there was the jailhouse lawyer who offered his unlicensed services to the surrounding community whenever he found himself on the outside. These services usually involved combing recent police reports in the newspaper, tracking down relatives of people facing criminal charges and offering to take on their case ... and then absconding with the money.

Somewhere near the bottom of the list is Sen. Lindsey Graham, a man whose most striking feature were his tiny, doll-sized feet. He had the personality of an unseasoned Ramen noodle and didn't make eye contact with even once. And those feet ... so tiny.

Anyhoo, Romancing the Runoff is raising funds to support a pair of runoff races in Georgia, that state where Graham recently pushed to have people's ballots thrown out. Democracy! Romancing the Runoff is conducting an auction to support the runoffs for candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. These funds will go to Fair Fight, the New Georgia Project, and Black Voters Matter. The grassroots effort is the brainchild of Courtney Milan, Alyssa Cole, Bree Bridges and Donna Herren (who write together under the penname Kit Rocha.)

As I write this, the auction has already raised $70,000 toward it's $75,000 goal. I have two pieces in the auction, titled "The Intersectional Feminists" and "Governess Monthly: For the Young Gothic Professional," under my nom de plume Unlovely Frankenstein. If you'd like to remind America's hobgoblins that democracy is alive and kicking, please consider throwing some money their way.

If you're the winning bidder for either of these posters, mention this website and I'll send you some free Dark Shadows stuff!
