New edition of House of Dark Shadows
novel now available in Japan

Miss Spotty Jane has brought my attention to a new Japanese translation of Marilyn Ross's 1970 novelization of HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS. Titled LIPS OF BLOOD, the artwork is clearly riffing on the style of the Tim Burton film, but showing actor Jonathan Frid in his HOUSE costume.

For those of you interested in ordering this book, it's available for order on Amazon-Japan. Jane also supplied me with a link to the artist's website.

While you're out and about, make sure to visit her website, MSJ'S Doll Pit!

Barnabas looks like a Japanese pretty boy on this cover.

I figured either Tim B had stolen Johnny D's look or vice versa...guess you have to know which came first, the chicken or the egg....

Thanks for the great shout out! I kept hoping Japan would get some great merchandise, because marketing expensive stuff to goth~ish kids is a whole industry over there. Looks like they'll have to do with Pizza Hut prizes and one Marilyn Ross paperback.

I just wish someone would re-release the soundtrack of House of Dark Shadows/Night of Dark Shadows on CD! Yes, I know I can download the music on Amazon or iTunes, but the quality is not as good as a CD. And although you can get a better quality music file at Rhino, there is still something about owning the real item, with the booklet, that I would like to have it, without paying $50 or more for a used copy on eBay.
