Win a photo signed by Jonathan Frid!

A few months back, I ordered a signed photo from Jonathan Frid.

I actually ordered two photos, one for myself, and another to give away as a prize for my next contest. Unfortunately, there was a misunderstanding. Instead of personalizing one of the photos to The Collinsport Historical Society, he made out both photos to me, personally. A little more than a week after the photos arrived, Mr. Frid passed away.

After receiving the photos, my first impulse was to shelve the contest, thinking nobody would want a photo with my name on it. Worse things have happened to me than having to accept two autographed photos from Jonathan Frid (which registers as "awesome" on the spectrum of misfortunes) so it was a problem I could easily deal with.

Since Frid's passing, though, I've come to the conclusion that holding on to an extra signature is a little greedy. It's been sitting in a protective envelope on my bookshelf, hidden away from the world. And it's time I share it.

But wait! There's more!

I'm also including in this prize packet a script reproduction of episode #480 of the original series, as well as a set of custom-made House of Dark Shadows trading cards. I reader graciously sent me several Japanese mini-posters from the new Dark Shadows movie, and I'm including two of those in this prize package, as well.

UPDATE: AND THERE'S EVEN MORE!
I'm also including a new copy of The Haunting of Collinwood, the three-hour DVD highlighting the introduction of Quentin Collins to DARK SHADOWS.

UPDATE #2: ANOTHER PRIZE ADDED!
"Miss Winters" has kindly donated a copy of Dark Shadows Collection 1 on DVD. This set includes the first 40 episodes of Dark Shadows to feature Jonathan Frid as Barnabas Collins. Thanks so much, Miss Winters!

Here's how you can win these prizes:
Send me a Dark Shadows-themed haiku to collinsporthistory@gmail.com during the next 90 days. I'll use it to create a Polaroid-style image that will be posted in The Collinsport Historical Sociey's Facebook page. At the end of the 90-day contest, the haiku with the most "Likes" wins! Enter as much as you want!

While I won't be counting syllables, please try to keep the haiku entries to the traditional 5-7-5 rhythm pattern. If you want examples of haiku, see this site. You can also see examples of my own Dark Shadows-themed haiku at this link.

  1. sorry my email is messed up so if you dont mind me adding my idea here i think a picture of the vampire version of Barnabas in the grave yard with collinwood behind him and all the other cast members in his cape...its like he still the boss and has the effect over them and they can never leave him.

thanks and i hope this is OK.
