I'm sure more than a few Dark Shadows fans have Googled the name "Barnabas Collins" in hopes of finding someone baring the name of the fictional vampire. While it's an unlikely name, it appears that at least one man shared the name of television's best-loved antihero.
A California legislator named Barnabas Collins passed away in 1901, and has a grave marker eleven blocks from the State Capitol in a section of Sacramento City Cemetery.
From OneVoter.com:
In a eulogy delivered on the Assembly Floor, Grove Johnson noted “For twenty-one years I had known Mr. Collins, and in every relation the man proved his worth as a father, as a husband, as a friend, as a citizen. Here in this Assembly we have not had time to understand his worth. We have not been able to appreciate the dignity of his character and his indomitable perseverance.”

Saw the new Dark Shadows movie ...I must say I feel they did a terrific job following the story....changes up a bit. There was only 1 scene I felt should have been cut out. That's Tim Burton...a little over the edge!
